February 24, 2013 No Comments Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild LRDG

Roller derby players will be trading their wheels for heels when they walk the runway at a downtown business fashion show Saturday.

The event, taking place at Drunken Sailor from 2-5 p.m. will feature the latest in rockabilly and pin-up fashions available in Lethbridge modeled by skaters from the Lethbridge Roller Derby Guild.

This event will also be our first 2013 fundraiser for the roller derby team as well,” says Jennifer Davis, fundraising coordinator for the league. “We’re pleased that the staff at Drunken Sailor and Catwalk wanted to partner with us.”

During the fashion show there will be refreshments, in-store specials, the fashion show and attendees will get the opportunity to purchase and customize their own LRDG t-shirt. A portion of sales during the event will go back to the league towards their 2013 season.

We’ll also have league merchandise for sale and tickets for our March 23 home opener against the Redcliff Foxy Rollers,” says Davis. “Lethbridge has been so supportive of the league at all our events and as a result we’ll be hosting even more home games this year.”

Drunken Sailor opened in December of 2012 and has brought a unique flavour to downtown Lethbridge, featuring rockabilly and pin-up fashions for men, women and children. The store also hosts an art gallery, The Tipsy Mermaid, which is currently featuring pieces from the Epic Dermis art show. Also partnering for the show is Catwalk Salon and Spa who will be doing the hair and make-up of all the models.
